Stop RFK Jr.’s Anti-Science Attack on Abortion Pills

Stop RFK Jr.’s Anti-Science Attack on Abortion Pills
The Issue
The Trump administration just took a dangerous step toward banning abortion pills, and they’re using misinformation to do it.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and FDA Commissioner Martin Makary have launched a “review” of mifepristone, the most commonly used abortion pill in the U.S. But this isn’t about safety. It’s about control. Again.
Just days earlier, this same administration falsely linked Tylenol (acetaminophen) to autism, ignoring decades of medical consensus. Now they’re pulling the same playbook: twist the science, spread fear, and use federal agencies to restrict access to reproductive health care.
More than 100 peer-reviewed studies confirm mifepristone is a safe and effective way to end an early pregnancy. The FDA already has the data. This new review is in response to pressure from Republican attorneys general — and it cites a politically motivated, non-peer-reviewed “study” from a far-right think tank involved in Project 2025.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t a medical debate. It’s a political attack.
Mifepristone is used in over 60% of abortions in the U.S. today. It’s especially vital for people in states where abortion is banned, who rely on telehealth and mail-order access to get care. Rolling back access to the pill would mean more people pregnant against their will — and more suffering.
We call on:
- The FDA to stand by the evidence and protect national access to mifepristone
- HHS Secretary RFK Jr. to end this sham review and stop pushing disinformation
- Congress to investigate the politicization of public health policy under this administration
Abortion is healthcare. Mifepristone is safe. And this abuse of public trust must be stopped.
