The Issue

hey! i'm going to keep my name anonymous for this, but i want everyone who sees this to read it! if you don't want to (it may be long) skip to the end and i'll shorten it.

so, i'm sure you've all heard about the newly input rules for the e-hallpass system that we use. i've asked several different people (at both RBHS and BHS) about their bathroom pass system, Rock Bridge doesn't use e-hallpass and Battle only uses paper passes- both with very loose rules / boundaries. prior to this school year, we were allowed unlimited passes a week with no time limits (for pass duration or when passed could be made, with the exception of not in the first and last 10 minutes of class periods [ depending on the class / school ]) which as of august 2025, this has changed. from no restrictions, to only 10 passes made (by student) per week and a limit of 9 minutes, to now only 7 passed per week (not even two a day!- on average) and a limit of 6 minutes. depending on where your closest bathroom is, and how long it takes to get there, it could take up to three minutes just to walk there AND back. which leaves 3 minutes to actually do your business, which is absolutely nothing if you're on your lady days or have an emergency or anything else. also, not to mention the OTHER rules they have made too. only 20 students are allowed to use the pass at once to one place (which is kind of reasonable for a bathroom, but how about the nurse? the library? an office?) and that is only about 1% of HHS's population (students- if there are around 2000 of us and several 100 in each grade) which is nothing. also, passes aren't to be made after 3:30pm (which is only about 40 minutes during 4th block which we ARE allowed to make passes.) and we know how full bathrooms are during passing periods, lunches, before / after school! what if someone has a club / sport / other extracurricular to be at right after school and doesn't have time to go? or if kids need to catch the bus to get home, which leave around 10 minutes after (with foot traffic and bathrooms being used by other students this really isn't enough time.) these school rules are absolutely unfair and extremely restrictive for our students, especially because we can't control when to use our bladders! so, all i ask of you (aside from reading this long thing, which, thank you so much!) is to sign this petition to get our old pass system back (as we did the school year of 24'-25') or at least back to the 10/week and 9m/pass way! and if you do, and would be generous enough to, share this petition with whoever you know! every vote counts<3

shortened version: HHS is the only high school in our district who uses e-hallpass (+ insanely strict rules!) and this isn't fair for our students and peers. sign this petition to get our normal school bathroom rules back!
