Dear All, Last year your support helped me raise the issue about the difficulties that adult survivors of child abuse face in India. This petition was in fact discussed by the National Commission For Protection of Child Rights. A conversation is finally starting to take place in India about the support that adult survivors need. This would not have happened without your support and the support of other survivors like Insia Dariwala and Anuja Gupta (RAHI) working tirelessly to raise this issue. In this New Year, I am doubling up my energy and efforts to take this campaign forward and I hope I can count on your support. In India we like to pretend that child abuse is a rare occurrence. If it's a "respected" family member perpetrating the abuse most families look the other way. The "family dignity and pride" trumps the basic duty to protect an innocent child. This even though research and data from around the world shows that child molesters are highly likely to become repeat offenders. If a child molester is able to get away with their crimes, it only makes them bolder. Which is why I am requesting you to share this article: https://video.scroll.in/857318/video-can-an-adult-survivor-of-child-sexual-abuse-proceed-legally-against-the-abuser You have all signed my petition and I know that I have your support. However there are many people who like to ignore these issues and facts. So please share this petition: https://www.change.org/p/stop-repeat-offences-by-child-molesters-allow-adult-survivors-to-report-childhood-sexual-abuse with your friends and on social media. We must break the silence. Thank you for everything, Purnima
