The Issue

Petition to Install Traffic-Calming Measures and Improve Pedestrian Safety

We, the undersigned residents, parents, and concerned community members, are urgently requesting that the city/school district take immediate action to improve safety on Bronk Road, near River View Elementary and Timber Ridge Middle School. This area has become increasingly dangerous due to drivers regularly ignoring stop signs and speeding, posing a serious risk to pedestrians, students, and families.

What We’re Asking For:
We respectfully request the city to implement one or more of the following proven traffic-calming measures:
- Speed humps or speed tables
- Raised crosswalks
- Flashing or illuminated stop signs
- Increased police presence or automated enforcement
- Painted roadway signage and pedestrian warnings
- Curb extensions to slow turns and protect pedestrians

Why This Matters:
There have been numerous instances of reckless driving, including vehicles failing to stop at stop signs, failing to stop for school buses, and exceeding the speed limit—especially during school hours and when children are present. We should not have to wait for a tragedy before changes are made. Slowing traffic and enforcing stop signs will protect lives and restore peace of mind to everyone who walks, bikes, or drives in this area.
