As an animal lover and rabbit owner, I was extremely shocked by the accessibility of rabbit meat in China. My love for animals, especially rabbits, led me to this painful discovery. While shopping on a popular Chinese app called Pin Duo Duo, I searched for rabbit food with the intent to purchase treats for my pet. To my horror, I was met with numerous results showcasing rabbit meat, a sight that left me feeling utterly gutted.

China is renowned for its diverse culinary practices, but the inclusion of certain meats such as rabbit, cats, and dogs is a glaring example of extreme cruelty. Many voices across the globe have risen, expressing outrage and working through petitions and other means to initiate change. Yet, the prevalence of rabbit meat is a critical issue that seems to have been overlooked in the broader narrative. We have to end this cruelty, not only for the voiceless rabbits but also to respect the love and bond between humans and animals.

There is evidence that reducing meat consumption can have numerous benefits, from health improvements to environmental sustainability. Let's urge Chinese authorities and companies like Pin Duo Duo to re-evaluate their offerings and consider the impact of such practices on both the global image of China and animal welfare. The tide is turning towards more ethical treatment of animals across the world, and it's time for China to take a stand especially with domesticated animals that people often keep as pets.
