Stop PYROLAND from Operating in Lake Ariel
The Issue
As a 4 year resident to Cherry Ridge, who left New England/Boston suburbs to retreat to the countryside, I never anticipated a type of business such as PYROLAND INC. to open next door; myself and other neighbors did not expect the extent of which the relentless pyrotechnic activities of PYROLAND INC.’s “grand opening” would disrupt the tranquility of our neighborhood in Lake Ariel, with more “open shoot” dates to come.
Our homes are closely located to this residence. We are looking to keep our peace as we are entitled.
On their "grand opening day," our community was subjected to 12 continuous hours of explosions, from 11 am. no formal or courteous notice was given to any residents, let alone other this business was coming to fruition within our backyards. pets were so anxious that they destroyed items in our homes, refused to go outside to relieve themselves, residents of all ages becoming agitated and suffering from sensorial, mental, and allergic reactions to the persistent noise, smoke, and vibrations permeating the walls of our homes, for no less than a mile in every direction, through to 11pm.
Our corner of Cherry Ridge and South Canaan township is a peaceful, residential area and our neighborhood's serenity is being shattered by the operations of PYROLAND, where, as advertised publicly “For a fee, visitors can become members and gain access to designated shooting areas where they can bring and launch their own fireworks at their convenience.”
Events that were initially publicly listed on the website (this website and all pages have been made private) showed that upcoming display dates were planned through to October, not including any requested “member” shoots, and is advertised as a year round opportunity. Other public posts made by PYROLAND advertise commercial grade, 1.4oz and larger pyrotechnics, custom-made racks to launch explosives and fireworks from, “bigger booms to come,” etc. it’s to no doubt that loud-and-proud self proclaimed “pyros” will not be shooting only “class c” fireworks.
This is not just a nuisance but a disruption that affects our quality of life, but our area is subject to many periods of dry/drought seasons, often experiences gale-force winds throughout all 4 seasons (leading to high-risk of fire warnings and burn bans,) is within our public watershed area, as well as located within a mile of Varden nature conservation lands.
we are full-time residents, made up of new/expanding families, retired and/or disabled veterans, elderly, farmers and hunters who provide for their families and communities off of the land we pay taxes for and maintain.living within a few acres of PYROLAND on all sides, with shock-waves and sound traveling well over a mile in all directions per mine and neighbors’ experience.
The community of Lake Ariel is standing together against this intrusion. The solution is clear: PYROLAND should no longer operate a fireworks and pyrotechnics facility within our residential neighborhood. We implore local lawmakers and authorities to enforce regulations that prioritize the safety and well-being of Lake Ariel’s residents.
We deserve to enjoy our homes without the fear and disruption caused by unsolicited explosions. Join us in taking action to preserve the comfort and security of Lake Ariel. Sign now to make your voice heard.
