Stop putting AI in game engines NOW!
The Issue
I have noticed a big change in game development ever since Ai took over, there are more slop games on places such as steam, because the game engines such as unity decided to put Ai in their engines, and as someone who is still passionate about game development, and as somebody who started their whole game development career in Dreams on the PS4, this hurts to the core seeing so called easy game engines decide to use ai for a quick cash grab, one thing I’ll admit that yes it can help with complex tasks, but the thing is when you use ai, you are not having the ability to properly program the games yourself, and genuinely know how your game works, by visually moving, or connecting certain nodons together, unlike with ai, you have easier access to what you want for your own game, and you get to design the game mechanics all by yourself by hand without needing to worry about knowing how to code, but ai restricts that control you have over your own game, take Dreams on the PS4 for example, people have made some very incredible projects on that program, but the sad thing about Dreams is that there is no way to publish standalone games with this program, and people still wish they could make their own games they can publish on platforms such as steam without needing to fry their brains to figure out how to code, and without using AI to do the work for them, because putting ai in game engines is unfair for those who have a passion for game development, because nowadays people have been making slop games with these ai programs, and publishing them to steam, which makes steam feel stale, and makes it harder for genuine game developers to be seen for their talent, I want to make Bash The Cat which I’ve been prototyping in Dreams for almost a decade since 2020, and I just wish I could keep the skill I have for Dreams, and be able to make a proper standalone game for more players to play on PC, and maybe on other game consoles such as the Nintendo Switch 1/2, or the PlayStation consoles
