Puppy mills in New Zealand, or Puppy Farming, is an issue not talked about enough and that needs to change. Thousands of puppies are sold online in NZ every year, often living in tiny, filth ridden cages, where their well-being and health is put at risk. There is no current legislation that monitors the activity of breeders. This petition is to amend the Animal Welfare Act and Dog Control Act to ensure this. Adopt, don’t shop - as these dogs and puppies that are frighteningly available at the click of a button deserve so much better.
