Dear Supporters,

Our fight for responsible development is not over.

Although the development was approved through the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT), construction has not started. The property has been left unattended, creating an overgrown mess that has become a haven for wildlife and ticks.

This situation raises serious concerns about property maintenance, public safety and the impact on nearby residents. If construction is delayed, the site should still be properly maintained, secured and monitored to prevent it from becoming a hazard or nuisance.

We are not against housing or development. We are against development that moves forward without adequately addressing traffic congestion, parking, schools, healthcare, infrastructure, property maintenance and the impact on existing communities.

Residents should not have to spend countless hours researching proposals, attending meetings and fighting decisions, only to see an approved site left neglected while concerns continue to grow.

With the municipal election on Monday, October 26, 2026, we have an opportunity to demand accountability and meaningful change.

I encourage every supporter to contact their municipal candidates and ask where they stand on the following issues:

1. Responsible development: Will you support development that considers infrastructure capacity, traffic, parking and the needs of existing communities?

2. Site maintenance and public safety: What will you do to ensure approved development sites are maintained, secured and kept free of overgrowth, illegal dumping, wildlife hazards and tick risks while construction is delayed?

3. Ontario Land Tribunal reform: Will you advocate for changes to the OLT process so residents have a fair and affordable opportunity to challenge planning decisions?

4. Meaningful public consultation: Will you ensure residents have opportunities to participate in person and virtually, with their concerns genuinely considered before decisions are made?

5. Infrastructure and services: Will you advocate for provincial funding and better coordination so schools, healthcare, transit and other essential services keep pace with growth?

6. Family-sized housing: Will you push for more livable two- and three-bedroom units rather than simply increasing the number of units without considering the needs of families?

7. Accountability: What specific actions will you take to address irresponsible development, neglected properties and the protection of existing neighbourhoods?

We need more than promises of responsible growth. We need measurable commitments and elected officials prepared to stand up for residents.

Please take a few minutes to contact your candidates, ask these questions and share their responses.

Every vote matters, and our voices should matter long after an election is over.

I encourage you to continue sharing this petition with friends, family and neighbours. The development we originally challenged may have been approved, but construction has not begun, and the property must not be allowed to remain an unmanaged wildlife and tick hazard.

The fight for a fairer planning process, responsible growth and proper property maintenance continues.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this petition and taken the time to stand up for our community.

Together, we can continue pushing for change.
