Subject: Ontario Land Tribunal votes in favour of tenants! Rental apartments WILL NOT be demolished.

On August 19, the Ontario Land Tribunal SAID NO to a massive Long Branch development on Lake Promenade! Developers are not permitted to demolish rental apartments, or displace tenants, to make way for five proposed condo towers (12-29 storeys).

THE TRIBUNAL ORDERED the appeals dismissed. The requested amendment to the Official Plan for the City of Toronto is refused. The requested amendment to By-law 569-2013 is refused.

"The City acknowledged the need for more housing is not a licence to develop any project that one wants. One must look at the context and be sensitive to it”. The Tribunal agrees." ~ OLT official report

This is an exceedingly rare decision made by the Ontario Land Tribunal. Historically, they find 90% in favour of developers. Residents spoke up, fought back, and won!

With elections less than two months away, in 444 municipalities across Ontario, there is no time like the present to make a difference. Write to elected officials to make this THE election issue. See Concerned Citizen's Letter below.
