Dear Mr. Pulcrano,
Please shut down the “Adult Escort Services” section on your classified ad portion of your website and stop providing a means for others to sell girls and boys for sex. Metro Silicon Valley Newspaper currently utilizes the services of Backpage.com to advertise “Adult Escort Services” throughout Santa Clara County.
Mr. Pulcrano, one of the reasons you opposed the recent statewide ballot measure, Proposition 35 (Stop Human Trafficking in California), was because, “Consensual relationships between teenagers hovering above and below the age of 18 could also fall into a legal gray area”. This quote is from your October 11, 2012 issue of Metro Silicon Valley Newspaper where you recommended a “No” vote on Proposition 35.
Fortunately, Proposition 35 was overwhelmingly passed by California Voters and will:
• Increase prison terms for human traffickers.
• Require convicted sex traffickers to register as sex offenders.
• Require all registered sex offenders to disclose their internet accounts.
• Require criminal fines from convicted human traffickers to pay for services to help victims.
For us, one child sold for sex is one too many.
Please get out of the “Adult Escort Services” business immediately and do your part to protect the men, women, boys and girls that are being sexually exploited and trafficked on Backpage.com in Santa Clara County.
