Stop Proposed Glamping Camping Site in the Rural Agriculture Area of Ladeca, FL

The Issue

My home is in the serene and peaceful Ladeca rural agriculture area. For years, its tranquility and privacy have been my sanctuary. However, plans for a proposed wilderness camping site on 15 acres within our region are threatening to disrupt our way of life. If approved by the Hendry County Local Planning Agency, these plans would directly infringe on our security and encapsulating serenity.

The proposal doesn't only influence my home but all homes in our area. The quiet seclusion we adore would transition into a heavily-traveled public spot, introducing noise, traffic, and safety concerns that would alter our lives drastically.

Our region's agricultural roots, which account for a major proportion of Hendry county's economy, are in jeopardy too. According to the 2017 Census of Agriculture, Hendry County was the second-largest producer of oranges and sugarcane in Florida (USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service). A camping site, with the potential to introduce pollution and footpath erosion, could negatively affect our areas' production capacities and therefore our local economy.

The preservation of our rural lands is important to our state as well. Florida's statute 163.3162 states that "it is the intent of the Legislature to discourage the proliferation of urban sprawl". Therefore, this proposition contradicts what is legally implemented to protect our peace and rural characteristics.

We must urge the Hendry County Local Planning Agency to decline the approval of this proposed camping site for the sake of our community, our economy, and our way of life.

Please, sign this petition to help us secure our privacy, seclusion, and peace in the Ladeca rural agriculture area.
