Stop profiting from selling puppies

Stop profiting from selling puppies
The Issue
Are you aware that Ireland is hailed as the Europe’s capital of puppy farming?
Ireland produces so many puppies, often in poorly kept breeding facilities, that they are being exported to other countries. Those puppies often come with various health issues resulting from poor hygiene (such as Parvovirosis and Giardiasis) or from poor breeding standards resulting in various congenital or degenerative issues.
In addition to that, Ireland’s shelters are overflowing with unwanted dogs. And any dog that has problematic behaviour (like a biting history) is euthanized.
It is time for change because trying to regulate breeding establishments in Ireland has completely failed, so far.
It is time for a radical change and to make producing puppies unattractive.
If breeding and raising puppies led to a financial loss to the breeder, it would not be an attractive business.
This is why I am calling for a radical change: Selling puppies anywhere should be a finable offense. If there is no incentive, puppy farms should shut down and we might actually have a chance reducing the number of dogs in shelters.
The fine should be so high that the breeder should be at a loss, even if the breeder sold every single pup for thousands.
I am calling for a heavy fine for the sale of puppies until every shelter in Ireland has adopted out their dogs.
