In light of the campaign by sections of the peace movement for Ukraine to negotiate an unconditional ceasefire with the Russian aggressor and occupier (most recently made public in the plans for the “Peace Summit” held on June 10-11 in Vienna), we, the undersigned:

1. Declare our solidarity with the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the aggression of the Russian Federation.

2. Insist that the decision as to when to call a ceasefire and start negotiations belongs to the victim of that aggression—the Ukrainian people and authorities.

3. Condemn the pressure being brought by sections of the peace movement to achieve negotiations irrespective of whether Russian forces occupy Ukrainian territory, in effect pressure on the Ukrainian people to accept partition of their country.

4. Call on all sections of the peace movement to support Ukraine’s right to self-determination and self-defence and demand the immediate withdrawal of Russian forces.
