The Issue

Louisville is being asked to host a 400-megawatt AI data center — one of the largest in the country. While developers promise jobs and revenue, the environmental cost will be high:

More coal and gas burned to meet the massive electricity demand → worsening air pollution in one of America’s asthma hotspots.
Millions of gallons of water drained daily for cooling → threatening our water security and warming our rivers.
Diesel backup generators spewing soot and particulates → damaging public health in nearby neighborhoods.
Noise, construction dust, and e-waste → long-term burdens on our community.

Louisville deserves clean growth, not pollution disguised as “innovation.”

We call on city and county leaders to:

✅ Require a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) before construction moves forward.

✅ Ensure the facility runs on renewable energy instead of coal and gas.

✅ Place strict limits on water usage and thermal discharges.

✅ Ban or strictly regulate diesel backup generators.

✅ Guarantee independent monitoring and public reporting of emissions, water use, and pollution.

✅ Secure a Community Benefits Agreement so residents, not just corporations, share in the gains.

Louisville should not be sacrificed for Big Tech’s profits. We demand accountability, transparency, and clean energy solutions — before it’s too late.
