Stop Political Attacks on Obama—And the Attempt to Distract from Epstein Scandal
The Issue
This week, we watched a dangerous political stunt unfold.
Tulsi Gabbard, Donald Trump’s Director of National Intelligence, stood at a White House podium and accused former President Barack Obama of leading a “treasonous conspiracy” during the 2016 election.
These claims were made without credible evidence. Hours later, the Justice Department scrambled to respond, launching a vague “strike force” investigation with no timeline, structure, or facts behind it.
But here’s what this is really about: distraction.
Trump is under renewed pressure over the Epstein files—documents linking powerful men, including political allies and donors, to Jeffrey Epstein’s network of abuse. Instead of addressing that crisis, the former president and his inner circle are reviving baseless accusations against Obama, trying to shift public attention with a headline-grabbing attack.
This isn’t about justice. It’s about deflection.
Weaponizing the legal system to go after political enemies—especially without evidence—is something we expect from autocracies, not democracies. And using intelligence officials as political mouthpieces puts our institutions in crisis. The stakes are even higher when the target is a former president still widely respected at home and abroad.
We call on Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice to reject this political pressure. Any investigation into President Obama must be based on independently verified evidence, not conspiracy theories or campaign-style retribution.
We also urge members of Congress—regardless of party—to speak up. The American people deserve a Justice Department that works for the public good, not as a tool of distraction or retaliation.
This isn’t about defending one individual. It’s about protecting the rule of law. When elected leaders or intelligence officials try to bury scandal by inventing one, they’re not just misleading the public—they’re actively undermining democracy.
We must not let this become the new normal.
Tell Attorney General Bondi and Congress: We see what’s happening. We reject these politically motivated attacks on President Obama. And we demand accountability for the real crisis—not another diversion.
