The Issue

A plastic coated placard was sent out to homes from Xfinity Mobile to obtain customers.

1. It has your name and address on it.

2. Due to it being coated on both sides it does not disintegrate nor is suitable for recycling.

I split the sheets in in half and left it submerged in water for almost 2 months with no impact.

I reached out to two executives who seem like the right people who can make a difference:

Daniel Friedman, Vice President, Corporate Communications, Advertising & XCS and Elaine Wong Vice President, External Communications ― Comcast Advertising (Comcast Spotlight & FreeWheel)

With a letter explaining how their own corporate zero waste environmental policy is violated https://corporate.comcast.com/impact/environment by a simple and deliberate choice of choosing plastic coating to ensure the media is non-destructible and long life.

Consider that this "plastic-for-profit" tactic possibly hitting millions upon millions of households. It was thoughtless and needless. I brought up the tonnage of non-destructible waste this campaign caused.

There was no apology, no reply. I would have liked a confirmation something along the lines of:

"Sorry that you feel strongly, we can understand your concerns and thankyou for bringing this to our attention. Your suggestion will be given as feedback in the future to ensure our advertising practices comply with recycling"

I have since ended my 16 years of comcast service without no regret and am doing what I can to make sure that they understand how their simple choices are contributing to an already stressed environment.

XFinity / Comcast - abide by your own environmental policies and quit with plastic coated placards!!

Thank you
