Stop Plans for Incinerators in Corby and Surrounding Areas

The Issue

Corby and surrounding areas face the threat of multiple incinerators, including the 'Shelton Road' incinerator, planned to be right in the heart of Corby. These incinerators potentially put our health, environment, and local infrastructure at risk.

The Shelton Road incinerator, first approved in 2014, would be less than a kilometre from a nursery, school and homes at Priors Hall. Emissions from the 75-metre-high stacks which could include toxic metals like cadmium, mercury, nickel, arsenic and chromium will have an impact on Corby and the surrounding villages.

If ever operational, the developers Encyclis predict the incinerator would generate around 175 extra heavy lorry movements each day putting more pressure on our crumbling roads.

There is no proven demand for further incineration capacity in our area and building additional incinerators risks locking us into outdated and polluting waste-burning technologies.
