My name is Alina and I'm 13 years old. My brother (10) and I want you to know that Petland, a Nationwide pet store, is committing cruelty to animals. It's time to put a stop to it! After the influence of employees, the uneducated customers believe the poor puppies are healthy.  
 
Recently, Channel 11 news in Atlanta sent undercover operatives to work at Petland and discovered unlabeled meds given to puppies to increase their alertness, and a substance described as “THE CURE” that was given to puppies to increase their appetites to make them look healthier than they are. Our research uncovered many reports of puppies dying or requiring extensive healthcare.  
 
Perhaps just as important is the fact that puppies need love and care that they don’t receive at Petland. I called Petland directly in September of 2023 and an employee confirmed that the puppies do not get to go outside at all. No sunlight, no grass, no fresh air. The puppies spend all day on grates, which can be painful. There are several puppies in one small cage creating unsanitary conditions. Petland has an admitted history of purchasing puppies from puppy mills. When I called in September of 2023, the employee I spoke with claimed that no puppies have been purchased from puppy mills since 2007, but instead are purchased from “Top USDA breeders in America.”. One Petland patron confirmed that she was provided a breeder's name in 2010 and found that the breeder had been cited several times for running a puppy mill. 
To top it off, Petland is practicing deceptive sales tactics. Many hopeful shoppers report being told dogs are $750 but price is thousands higher upon arrival. What Petland is doing is wrong, why are we letting them continue?

With enough signatures, we'll take this to local journalists and lawmakers with the power to stop the cruelty to and sale of puppies at Petland.
