Stop overdevelopment in North Miami
The Issue
STOP OVERDEVELOPMENT IN NORTH MIAMI!
As residents of North Miami, we are deeply concerned about the proposed 16-story Aurevia high-rise at NE 123rd Street and NE 16th Avenue, where a small, one-story community center once stood. The City's sale of this public land and support for a large private development reflect a troubling pattern that disregards residents' quality of life. Traffic congestion at this location is already severe, even before approved or underway developments have made their full impact felt.
North Miami is becoming increasingly overcrowded. Rapid high-rise construction, excessive density, worsening traffic congestion, strained water and other infrastructure, and the loss of trees and green spaces threaten our city's character, environment, and residents' quality of life.
We call on North Miami officials to prioritize residents' quality of life, public safety, and general welfare in all development decisions. Specifically, we ask the City to:
- Withhold the conditional use permit for the Aurevia project unless the City adequately addresses residents' concerns about traffic, density, infrastructure, and environmental impacts.
- Stop excessive high-rise development, particularly on former public lands.
- Enforce responsible zoning and comprehensive urban planning.
- Reduce traffic congestion through sensible planning and infrastructure improvements
- Protect and expand public parks, trees, and green spaces.
- Prioritize infrastructure investment, particularly in our water treatment plant, to ensure a safe, reliable water supply.
Help protect North Miami's future. Sign this petition to demand a more livable, sustainable city for generations to come!
