                     STOP OVERDEVELOPMENT IN HAMILTON MILL

Brand Properties presented a revised site plan for the +/- 39 acres at the Hamilton Mill overpass, two-lane Sardis Church Road, and directly abutting Seckinger High School.  While we appreciate that Brand took many of our concerns into account when revising the site plan, we still cannot support this plan.  The revised site plan still includes 327 apartments, 60 townhomes, and 17,000 square feet of retail/commercial space.   This plan is still too vehicle-dependent for the location.  This does not create a live, work-play environment in a safe walkable community -- this is just another luxury-commuter complex designed to create gridlock.  WE do not have the infrastructure to support this.  

If this rezoning takes place, it will give a green light to every other high-density developer.  This one project has the potential to change the character of the entire Hamilton Mill community.  

If we have any chance of stopping this rezoning – we’ve got to make some noise before the hearing!  And attend the hearings!

We need to send new letters of opposition to Jackson EMC.  We are all co-op members.  We need to let Jackson EMC know that the area community does not want this project.  With only 8% of raw land left in our county, we need to be smart about how we use it.  The 39 acres that directly abut Seckinger High School could be developed in a way that would add to our community, and give it something it doesn't have but needs.  Something that would be a benefit, not a detriment. 

We need to find ways to get signatures on our NEW petition, and ways to increase participation in this effort. 

Please sign our NEW petition for the revised site plan. Our goal is still 3000!  Please tell your neighbors, to be sure they know we need everyone to sign our new petition.
