Objection – 7–9 Bennett Avenue, Carramar

I object to the proposed 4-storey development at 7–9 Bennett Avenue, Carramar. While I understand the land is zoned R4, this proposal is not appropriate for the existing streetscape, which is predominantly single-storey residential dwellings. My concerns include:

  • Overshadowing of neighbouring properties and reduced sunlight access
  • Loss of privacy from upper-level units overlooking nearby homes
  • Increased traffic and insufficient parking
  • The height and bulk being out of character with the surrounding area

I request that this proposal be refused or significantly reduced in scale to better reflect the existing neighbourhood and minimise impacts on residents.

You can submit this online as Homes NSW invites you to have your say:

They invite the community to review the detailed plans and related technical studies, including the proposed design, landscaping and traffic management plan. These documents are available on the NSW Planning Portal via the following link:

All submissions must be received, via the Planning Portal, before 5pm on 21 April 2026.

Feedback received during the exhibition period will be carefully considered as part of the development assessment process prior to a formal determination being made.

Petition Summary: Our community on Bennett Avenue, Carramar NSW, is facing a dire threat to its character and safety due to a proposed 4-storey, 18-unit development. This towering structure is set to overshadow our unique neighbourhood of single-storey homes, forever altering its charm and livability.

The proposed development isn't just about new buildings; it's about overwhelming our neighborhood with a high-rise that stands in stark contrast to our existing homes. This massive project will invade the privacy of our residents with looming structures and shadowed environments, changing the very essence of our community.

Traffic congestion is another inevitable consequence. With only 13 parking spaces for 18 units, our already busy streets will face increased traffic woes and parking challenges, contributing to louder, more disruptive noise levels. These issues don't just make commuting harder, but they also pose serious safety risks to our children, elderly residents, and pedestrians.

Moreover, the introduction of this large-scale development could overburden our local infrastructure and community services, which weren't designed to support such high-density living. The proposed development compromises not just aesthetics but also the safety, privacy, and seamless functioning of our neighbourhood.

We urge Homes NSW, Fairfield Council, and our elected representatives to consider the implications of this proposal seriously. Instead of erecting a towering structure, we propose pursuing a scaled-down, low-rise design that provides modern housing solutions while respecting our community's established character.

Help us preserve our community's integrity and safety by signing this petition. Your support can make a difference in maintaining the unique suburban charm of Carramar, ensuring it remains a safe and welcoming place for all residents.
