Stop Overdevelopment (2600 units) in Trafalgar/ Glenashton area in Oakville

The Issue

Change is coming to Trafalgar Rd / Glenashton Dr area as the Town plans to develop over 2,600 residential and commercial units—mostly high-rises—in an already congested area. Traffic on Trafalgar is already a daily struggle; adding thousands more residents and cars will only worsen the situation.

The current proposal overlooks key needs. No new schools are planned, even though our local high school, Post Corners HS, is already over capacity, forcing students to transfer elsewhere. There are also no clear commitments to affordable housing, raising concerns that the development will not serve the broader community.

With uncertain immigration and economic forecasts, it’s unclear if these high-rises will even fill as expected. What if they don’t?

We urge the Town of Oakville to pause this proposal and prioritize essential infrastructure—like schools, public transit, and affordable housing—before moving forward.

Stop overdevelopment without proper planning.

Burlington did something similar, so citizens do have say in checking bad decisions by the government. (link)
