Stop overbuilding around Oceanside

Stop overbuilding around Oceanside
The Issue
Oceanside residents are standing together to protect the beauty, balance, and livability of our city. Oceanside has already experienced significant growth, and continued overbuilding threatens:
Wildlife habitats in and around Guajome Lake Park and trails, a treasured home for native birds, fish, and small mammals. Our precious wildlife is at risk of losing their natural habitat due to the relentless expansion of urban developments. Every new construction project not only disrupts these natural ecosystems but also diminishes the biodiversity that makes Oceanside unique. We cannot sit idly by as our local flora and fauna are pushed to the brink.
Traffic congestion and unsafe roads on already overburdened streets. With each new development, our roads become busier and more dangerous. The increased traffic poses a threat not only to drivers but also to pedestrians and cyclists. The charm of our serene streets is being eroded by this influx, and the safety of our community is at stake.
Overcrowded schools and loss of open spaces. Our schools are struggling to keep up with the growing number of students, impacting the quality of education our children receive. Furthermore, the loss of open spaces deprives our community of places for recreation and relaxation, crucial for maintaining the health and well-being of our residents.
Disappearing green areas that help maintain our city’s charm and livability. The green spaces of Oceanside contribute to the city's aesthetic appeal and clean air. They are vital for the mental and physical well-being of our community. The overbuilding is not only threatening these areas but also the unique character that draws people to Oceanside.
By signing this petition, you are joining the voices of many who believe that sustainable growth is possible and necessary for the health of our environment and community. We urge city leaders to halt overbuilding around Oceanside, specifically around the area's cherished Guajome Lake. Let's ensure that development is balanced and considerate of our natural and communal resources.
Please sign this petition and help us protect the future of Oceanside, our wildlife, and the legacy of Guajome Lake for generations to come.
