We all know there is huge issues with puppy farms, backyard breeders and health issues from selective breeding but by just condemning one area you disagree with, without a solution isn't going to make a difference. 

I want to tackle the more intricate problems that I feel feed into the bigger picture, the bits that are harder to regulate and go under the radar.

So I'm starting with licensed breeders, people who claim to be licensed and responsible but just use this formality to hide the horror of what they are doing. Being licensed means you are not allowed to be more than three litters a year, however we all know people who make the claim of being above board whilst clearly breeding far more dogs than stated and exploiting the whole system. I want to stop people with both pedigree AND mongrel/Cross breeds breeding more than 2 litters in any 12 month period and no more than 5 in a 5 year period. This would mean that it allows people to breed with dogs during age and health appropriate times (if that falls within the same 12 month period as another dog) by not over restricting the short term but more so focusing on the long term impact. 

We need to stop people seeing breeding dogs as business venture, let's start changing the small things to impact the whole industry whilst working with it and the minority of responsible folk.
