STOP OUR PETS BEING KILLED AND KEEP THE PUBLIC SAFE

The Issue

Everyday in Corpus Christi, Texas, cats and small pets are being killed by roaming dogs.  Hundreds if not thousands of pets and community cats suffer a cruel and senseless death by being torn up and mauled by loose dogs.  This has been an ongoing problem in our city for years. It has resulted in the loss of beloved pets and created needless suffering. Many of these dogs are someones pet with people letting them out to roam. There is few if no consequences for the owner's of these dogs.  Shockingly, dogs that have killed are routinely returned to the same owner resulting in the killing repeating itself again and again, even when they have been caught on video!

Stray dogs have been left to their own devices as Animal Control workers have been witnessed chasing away loose dogs that they deem 'non-aggressive'. It is a cruel practice, as these strays starve, get diseased and usually die a painful death. This is not the fault of the animals but a system that is not tough on animal abandonment, in city breeders (hoarders), and parking lot pet sellers. While these practices are abhorred in most cities, in Corpus Christi it is an everyday common occurrence.

This issue and been repeatedly brought up to our elected officials with no progress! We demand that the City of Corpus Christi immediately address this problem through tough fines, by-laws, enforcement and providing a safe place for stay and neglected animals.   Please sign and help make our city a safe place!
