Help us stop the Councils destroying our beautiful Bayside suburbs by allowing high rise, high density apartment blocks in quiet residential streets.

Developers are now trying to build up to three levels or 11 meters high with unlimited dwellings on a block within the Residential Growth Zone in Bayside.  As residents we do not want the neighbourhood character of our beautiful suburbs destroyed.

This type of development is grossly out of character with the surrounding areas. Many streets are a residential boulevard with single and double, free standing dwellings.

Reasons for objecting:

 a)      High level apartments affect the look and feel of our beautiful streetscapes, heritage buildings and open spaces, the reasons we live in Bayside in the first place. They are dramatically greater in height than all adjacent buildings making them look bulky and out of place.

 The character of our Bayside neighbourhood is spacious visual separation between buildings and this will remove the open space feel that the residents love.  A three level complex is an excessive building height and will cause unreasonable adverse impact to neighbouring properties by way of visual bulk, access to daylight and overshadowing.

b)      Even if there is basement parking, the apartment complexes don’t accommodate for the number of cars per household. This means that there won’t be ample parking and residents will be parking in our streets making it difficult to find parking for us and our friends anywhere near our own house.

c)      An increased number of residents and cars also means an increase in congestion, pollution and traffic in local areas.

d)      High density apartment complexes can bring about more noise and crime to quiet residential streets.

We must take action now and try and stop this ASAP to protect our neighbourhood character.  

To the Bayside City Council, we oppose the new planning laws that destroy the neighbourhood character of our suburbs. Please listen to the residents who live in these suburbs and vote for you. Oppose some of these developments and Stop inappropriate development in Bayside now.
