Curry College IT has recently sent out an email to students about changing our emails to office 365 instead of Gmail. This however causes a lot of issues. A lot of students have MacBooks or Apple related products and office 365 has a lengthy history of connectivity issues regarding Apple products. On top of that not everyone has access to a computer that is compatible. It also is not just switching the emails. It would also be deactivating all the Google services like docs and others. This means that everyone would have to transfer all of their data to this new platform that may not even work for them. It has also been brought up about how alumni may access information that is stored on the Google software. Due to them not being included in the email it means that they may not know about this change. That is why I have created this petition. While I do see why the administration has decided on office 365, I don’t think it is the right decision at this given time. I hope that this petition will help persuade them to keep the already working software in place.
