The care that our citizens nationwide and specifically in Virginia receive in nursing homes are despicable and dangerous . View news channel 13 story on this petition Click for news here.Traumatic brain injury patients and Incapacitated adults are particularly at risk. These people can not speak for themselves- Lets give them a voice and PROTECTION.. Unless you have experienced such neglect and abuse for yourself , most have no idea of how things work.. There are no laws to protect them from bruises, rashes with blood coming out. The Laws are primarily in place to protect the facility.  Awful smell coming from their body from not bathing . Open wounds with infection and nasty bandages that should be changed daily. There is no one to hold accountable . Thus being a nursing home can get away with abuse and neglect ,up the the point of DEATH.. There is no "in between " there is nothing...Lets give them a voice ..Lets give them their right to be protected .. The worst part is , that if that person where in your care at home in such condition , you go to jail...They arrest you right there in the ER..But once the hospital finds that they come from a facility ..everyone disappears and it is not mentioned again...Crazy ,right.  Well I have experienced this my self and I know I am not alone... The police and the APS find charges of abuse and neglect but there is no law to support any arrest , I was personally told that they had "no one to hold accountable" ... My own county could not or would not follow through with those charges...So thats telling me that they have no rights to be protected when a crime has been committed upon them .  As a mother, I screamed and fussed and called everyone I could think of to get some sort of satisfaction and to my dismay , They facility flipped it on me and said "They felt threatened by me " and hired a big money lawyer and behold , I was put on supervised visits... So , me trying to protect him and do what they tell you to is a joke ..I was punished for trying to protect him..  My son passed away on May 23,2016. He went through aweful pain and needless suffering for 18 months in an adult facility.. Everyday it was something .. What concerns me , I was lucky enough to be able to see my son everyday, but there are those in facilities that see no one and they depend on the facility for care , remember these folk cant pick up the phone and call for help ..They cant say "Stop , don't , or that hurts." Help me " Some thing has got to change .. NOW before one more suffer from adult nursing homes ...  What if this was your child ...
