The reason I have started this petition is because I think the new rules are absolutely absurd. These new rules are seriously so unnecessary. I get that there are some kids who act out but I will not stand there and be punished for things normal teenagers do. Like putting on makeup, wearing skirts, and wearing leggings. How is it our faults some girls can’t control themselves, and some boys and staff cant keep inappropriate comments, thoughts, and actions to themselves. Even parents disagree with some of these rules. Another rule is the Self Defense rule. How is it fair to a CHILD (if they get attacked first) gets arrested/suspended if they perform acts of self defense. They are basically taking away students rights. Even though there are some who don’t handle those rights properly, they should not be able to punish all. Especially acts of self defense. If I were a York Junior High Parent, I would immediately take action. Its sad that me, a York Junior High STUDENT, has to go and post this. Its devastating that my own school can’t make anybody feel like its a  comfortable environment. An environment where students wouldn’t have to make so much petitions to change the rules. An environment where students can simply talk to councilors, assistant principals, and even our own principal. Of course, our school failed at that. They fail on everything. They failed these helpless 12-15 year old students who just want a good change for once. Not a change where they lose a privilege to express themselves through outfits, makeup, and in general as a civilized human being. Not a change where they lose the RIGHT to fight back when attacked by a student who is upset by an action that the student did (and sometimes a lie some bored student made up.). It is not fair we lose these rights and privileges because you cant keep some students stable. The thing that is absolutely hilarious about it is, where do you think York is going to be after this? All you are simply doing is angering hormonal, some unstable, and drained out children/students. Its hilarious that you don’t realize how angry some students can get. How you cant see that what you are doing, will probably destroy this whole school alone. York is understaffed, our own principal is leaving, a bunch of teachers are moving/leaving/quiting their jobs, and 2 ap’s are leaving as well. How delusional are you guys to sit there and think you have more power? You have over 2,000 students and only (less now that some are leaving) 147 staff members. It’s pathetic, maybe focus on who you’re hiring as well. Last time I checked, our school was on the news for having a teacher who was favoriting little girls, and selling grades. York already has a horrible reputation not only within its students, but the staff too. Its frustrating that your only targeting students in this, and not rethinking the desperate and unsafe hiring going on. I really hope that this will be read and some rules will be considered unnecessary and will be terminated. Thank you for signing/reading.
