Although I appreciate the salient reasons for this petition, I cannot sign onto it as a school board member. The reason for this is that your petition doesn't necessarily reflect the views or positions of most high school students affected throughout the school district. This is important as I represent all students, coaches, and staff who may disagree with these views.

Additionally, I've no way of knowing the constituents are a student at Swansboro High school or their legitimate supporters. This is the third time the request for my support of the petition has been presented. Nevertheless, as thing are, verification of whom I respond to is a must. I'm sorry to disappoint.

My suggestion is that it would probably be best if your petition was launched organically at your school, via your coaches rather than change.org. I recommend getting input from other high schools (students and staff with the same concerns) in the District. Also, you can bring the issue to the District during the public speaking session of the next regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting on March 4, 2025.
