I'm writing to express concern and frustration over the outrageous electric bills issued by National Grid through the blessing of the PCS ( Public Service Commission ). As a mother staying at home full-time to care for our 10-month-old son while my husband is the sole breadwinner for our family of three, the continuous rise in energy costs has become unbearable. Despite our efforts to budget carefully, the mounting bills have placed an excessive strain on our finances and left us struggling to afford our basic needs, including food.

What bothers me most is the fact that the outrageous charges for delivery services often exceed the cost of the actual electricity used. This issue is not specific to my household; numerous friends and neighbors have shared similar concerns, expressing their inability to manage these unreasonable expenses. Why is it then legal for National Grid to demand nearly double the service cost just for delivery? I have personally spoken with National Grid about this and did a little digging myself to find out online through simple Google searches and speaking with a manager the other day that these increases are directly related to infrastructure upgrades!  National Grid was not alone in this proposal,  below is a direct quote from Google here explaining who else is involved:

" For the major three-year rate plan settlement (Cases 24-E-0322 and 24-G-0323) submitted to the New York Public Service Commission (PSC) for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (National Grid's Upstate New York electric and gas utility), National Grid filed a joint proposal alongside 15 active signatory parties representing state staff, labor, industrial users, and public interest groups. Why are groups like Walmart and the Dept. of Defense involved in this? Why are we the customers footing the bill for an extremely profitable company? We are being literally Surrounded in my small town of Byron, Ny by solar panels, all of which NO electricity is used for the residents but sent to NYC! The once beautiful Quiet town is now loud, dirty and swamped by endless arrays of shiny black glass! Totally unreal that this is America. 

We are calling on local and state officials to investigate and regulate National Grid's pricing structure meticulously to ensure transparency and fairness in billing. By doing so, they can prevent energy providers and " Other " interested parties from exploiting consumers with unreal, unattainable charges that create financial hardship, particularly for families like mine who are already struggling enough as it is.

Let us make sure our voices are heard and push for changes that protect the interests of hard-working families who deserve relief from excessive utility costs.
