Dear friends and neighbors,
Thank you. In just two weeks, more than 1,400 of you signed your names to protect the 32 acres of public oak forest along 75th Street — and we are still counting every day.
Now our moment has arrived. The Naperville City Council votes on the “Naperville Ridge” plan on Tuesday, August 18, at 7 p.m. (Council Chambers, 400 S. Eagle St.).
Here is the good news: this plan can move forward only if the Council votes to voluntarily annex the land. They hold 100% of the decision — and each of us has a direct line to them. Signatures show our numbers; personal comments to the Council land in the public record and change minds. The sooner they arrive, the more time each member has to weigh them.
It only takes you less than 5 minutes. Please ask the Council to:
- Deny the annexation and PUD — uphold the zoning that protects our neighborhood.
- Halt any vote until a full, independent environmental study is complete.
- Choose conservation — preserve this land with the Park District’s voter-approved fund.
The sooner you act, the more it counts. You can pick from the following ways below to make your voice heard by the decision makers:
- Email the Naperville City Council - Message all nine members - plus the additional contacts. Every email address is on the contact list in the petition here - change.org/stopnapervilleridge for you to use. It's the most personal way to be heard.
- Submit an official position statement now (it takes only 30 seconds) - The City's comment portal opens about a week before the meeting — we'll keep you posted in future updates closer to the City Council meeting. - Use the same portal to say more in your own words. Once the portal opens, use it to say more in your own words. It joins the public record for August 18.
- Cutoff for written comments is 4 p.m. on August 18 (earlier is far better). Live in the area? Come to the meeting on August 18 — taking a seat and showing your support in the room is a powerful message in itself.
