Stop Monzo Bank's Unethical Practices!

The Issue

We, the undersigned, call for an immediate investigation into Monzo Bank’s unethical and harmful practices, which have left countless customers financially stranded. Monzo has consistently frozen accounts without valid explanation, withheld funds for extended periods, and failed to provide transparency, leaving customers without access to their hard-earned money and facing severe financial consequences. 

My Story:
Monzo has frozen over £15,000 of my money, with no valid explanation, and they have still not returned it. Despite providing all the evidence they requested and demonstrating the legitimacy of my funds, they continue to withhold my money, causing me to incur late payment fines for car finance and other obligations. Their delays and lack of transparency have severely impacted my business and personal life.


This is not an isolated incident. Monzo’s account-freezing practices have caused significant distress to individuals, families, and businesses across the UK. We believe Monzo may be using frozen funds for investments, holding them for weeks or months before eventually returning them to customers. This unethical behaviour is unacceptable, and we demand action. 

Why This Matters: 

• Monzo has frozen substantial sums of money belonging to its customers, leaving them unable to pay bills, meet financial obligations, or run their businesses. 

• In many cases, customers are given vague reasons for account freezes, with no timeline for resolution or access to their funds. 

• Such practices erode public trust in digital banks and harm the reputation of the UK’s financial industry. 

This petition seeks to: 

• Call for a full investigation by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other regulatory bodies into Monzo’s practices, including their handling of frozen accounts and potential misuse of funds. 

• Demand that Monzo be banned from operating in the UK if found guilty of unethical or illegal practices. 

• Secure justice and compensation for all customers who have been unfairly impacted by Monzo’s actions. 

Our Demands:
• Investigate Monzo’s Practices: We call on the FCA, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), and relevant government bodies to launch an independent investigation into Monzo Bank’s account-freezing policies, handling of customer funds, and potential misuse of those funds for financial gain. 

• Ban Monzo from Operating in the UK: If Monzo is found guilty of violating financial regulations, we demand that they be banned from operating within the UK financial market to prevent further harm to consumers. 

• Immediate Release of Funds: Monzo must return all frozen funds without delay and provide valid explanations to affected customers. 

• Customer Compensation: Monzo must compensate all affected customers for financial losses, penalties, and emotional distress caused by their actions.
