I made this petition in an effort to stop MileStone from building the Persimmon development and destroying the beauty of Buda. This issue will affect the entire community and we need to change it now! Please sign and share with others!

MileStone Community Builders is planning a 775-acre, 2,500 home, residential community in an area that covers land in both Buda and Austin. Buda's population is around 18,000 and its roadways and infrastructure cannot handle the size of this development without serious repercussions. FM 967 is an example of one of the roadways that simply cannot handle this amount of traffic which will affect almost everyone who lives, works, or commutes in Buda.

The development has received serious backlash from Buda's residents, and its council yet Garrett Martin, the CEO of MileStone states that it plans to move forward with or without the city’s cooperation saying: “There is a fundamental truth: It’s going to get built, one way or another, whether it’s a city or Austin project or a city of Buda project. It’s a project that’s going to be built.”

Colin Strother, former chairman of Buda’s planning and zoning board referred to this as a “David vs. Goliath situation." MileStone is a multimillion-dollar company that “can threaten and cajole until they get their way, and they pull up and leave town and we’re left with the fallout.”

Buda will never be the same again if this project moves forward. Please give us your support and help us stop MileStone from moving forward with this project! We must not let this happen to this beautiful city that we call home. Together, we can keep Buda's motto “breathe easy here.”
