The Issue

Dear Matt and Julia -

We, the undersigned members and supporters of the NorCal Inline hockey community, are writing to respectfully request that you refrain from micromanaging the composition of our league's teams. This past season has been one of the most competitive and exciting in our league's history, and we believe that this success is largely due to the organic development and camaraderie of each team.

We understand that ensuring fairness and balance is important. However, the recent changes to team compositions have raised concerns among players across all leagues. By making individual, subjective decisions about team rosters, there is a high risk of disrupting the chemistry and cohesion that teams have worked hard to build. Additionally, this can lead to the unfortunate consequence of losing entire teams from the league, which not only affects the competitive nature of the league, but also the financial stability of the NorCal Inline organization. Losing a team means losing the associated revenue from team fees, which are essential for the league's operations.

In the spirit of cooperation and to ensure that all voices are heard, we propose that any significant changes to team compositions be put to a vote among the team captains. This approach will allow for a more collaborative and democratic process, ensuring that changes reflect the collective interests of the league's participants.

We respectfully urge you to trust the teams and players to maintain the integrity and excitement of the league by allowing us to continue playing with the teams we've formed and paid for. Please revert the intended roster changes for the upcoming season and bring the discussion to a larger group of community members before proposing to implement any more. We believe this approach will help sustain the league's growth, financial health, and the joy it brings to all of us.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration.

Sincerely,

The NorCal Inline player base and the Undersigned
