The proposed NTT Global PH10 Mesa Data Center, sprawling over 2,257,581 square feet, poses significant concerns for the Mesa community. A data center of this magnitude typically secures over $100 million annually in tax subsidies. These subsidies equate to revenue that is effectively siphoned away from our vital local community services and neighborhood enhancements. These funds are essential for schools, roads, public safety, and various community programs.

Moreover, the data center brings minimal job opportunities both in construction and operational phases. It is projected to offer only 40 to 60 permanent jobs, which is negligible compared to the potential economic and environmental impact this facility could have on our city. Our local job market needs more substantial growth opportunities, especially in sectors that promise sustainability and long-term benefits.

The environmental toll of such a facility cannot be overstated. The data center demands massive power consumption and requires a vast amount of water to maintain its server operations. This could result in a significant increase in power and water bills for Mesa residents, straining household budgets. Moreover, the facility's cooling systems will generate a perpetual, loud hum, disrupting the peace in surrounding neighborhoods.

We urge the Mesa City Council to prioritize our community’s needs over external corporate interests. By rejecting the approval of the NTT Global PH10 Mesa Data Center, we can help preserve our resources, protect local services, and maintain the tranquility of our neighborhoods.
