Stop Media and Universities from Platforming NIAC as the Voice of Iranians

Stop Media and Universities from Platforming NIAC as the Voice of Iranians
The Issue
“Our voices are not for sale or misrepresentation.”
We call on media organizations, universities, and public institutions to stop validating and platforming the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) as a representative of the Iranian people.
For millions of Iranians, this is not an abstract political debate. It is about families living under bullets, prisons, torture, censorship, and fear. It is about women risking their lives for basic rights. It is about protesters being killed for demanding freedom.
Yet again and again, NIAC is invited to speak on panels, quoted in major media, and consulted by institutions as if it represents our voices.
It does not.
Many Iranians inside Iran and across the diaspora do not recognize NIAC as their representative. When universities and media outlets give this organization a platform under the label of “the Iranian voice,” they erase victims, distort reality, and silence those who are actually suffering.
This petition does not call for censorship.
It calls for responsibility.
We ask that:
- Media outlets stop presenting NIAC as the voice of Iranians
- Universities stop inviting NIAC to speak on behalf of the Iranian people
- Public institutions stop treating NIAC as a legitimate representative of Iranian public opinion
Let journalists speak to political prisoners’ families.
Let the world listen to the people who are paying the real price.
Iranians deserve to speak for themselves.
