It has just been announced that, under pressure from NATO countries, an attempt is being made to establish a NATO mission for Greenland. To get such a mission off the ground, approval from all 32 allies is required. NATO SG Rutte responded only by saying that he is unsure whether Trump would be in favor of such a joint NATO mission. Rutte refuses to do everything he can to convince Trump.
Again it seems as if NATO SG Rutte abuses his power as Secretary General of NATO to subordinate the interests and even the existence of NATO, to what his 'daddy' Trump demands. Backed by many NATO countries, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reiterated again(!) her statement that an American invasion of Greenland would mean the end of NATO. But again NATO SG Rutte refuses to call NATO member US to order.
Jan. 2025, during an 'aggressive' telephone conversation, again Trump directly threatened Danish PM Mette Frederiksen. If she did not change her mind on Greenland the consequences could be catastrophic for Denmark. She hád to give Greenland to the US. But PM Frederiksen immediately reacted to Trump's threads telling Trump that Denmark was prepared to increase its responsibility for security in the Arctic but also reiterating her statement that Greenland was not for sale.
In her phone call with Trump, Frederiksen also emphasised that "Danish companies contribute to growth and jobs in the US, and that the EU and the US have a common interest in strengthened trade and security." Immediately she toured the European leaders who also fully supported her immediate and strong response to Trump.
Astonishingly, a few weeks later in April, during his first meeting with the European Parliament, NATO SG Rutte lied (deliberately?!) about PM Frederiksen, saying she did nót immediately reacted to Trump’s threads and that, according to Rutte, she understood that the most important issue was the safety of the US hemisphere. As always Rutte praised "daddy" Trump ‘to the skies’. (see clip above)
A real NATO Secretary General would have resolved the issue then, immediately. NATO countries are not allowed to attack each other. But instead, Rutte then already chose to subordinate NATO to Trump's demands.
As Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte subordinated the interests of the Dutch to his support for Netanyahu. Now Rutte appears to be abusing his power as Secretary General of NATO to subordinate NATO interests to his support for Trump.
Regardless of what position he holds, Rutte's main goal remains the destruction of the international rule of law. A goal that benefits both his "daddy" Trump and his ally, the accused war criminal Netanyahu.
