Stop mandatory asphalting of driveway in Toronto

The Issue

I have called Long Branch, Etobicoke my home for nearly half a century. My beloved house, built in 1910, holds decades of memories. The city  issued an Order that I  turn my gravel driveway into asphalt—a decision that I believe puts my home at a higher risk of flooding. Having experienced several heavy rainfalls over the years, I understand the importance of proper drainage. My current gravel driveway has naturally absorbed water and prevented runoff from seeping into my home. It’s with this knowledge and concern that I resist altering it.
Beyond environmental concerns, this order also poses a financial burden. Living on a fixed income, I simply cannot afford the cost of laying asphalt, nor can I shoulder the potential expenses related to water damage that may ensue.
By signing this petition, you are supporting a cause that allows home owners to respond  environmentally to stormwater management. Let's stand together to advocate for change and protect  our homes . Please sign the petition to voice your support.
