I know how busy everyone is right now — with work, kids’ school and activities, farm chores, and the holidays fast approaching. But please take a moment for this: it truly matters for every one of us. Our homes, wells, and rural peace of mind are at stake. We didn’t ask for this quarry — it was brought to us — but now we must be the ones to speak out and defend our community.

November 18 – Town Hall with Supervisors Susan Dibble and Jeff Stoneman
Montpelier Recreation Center and Library address: 15302 Clazemont Road, Hanover, VA
time: 6:30–8:00 PM  -  Ask how an industrial quarry fits with the County’s Comprehensive Plan — and what protections will be in place for our wells, roads, and families.

December 2 – Historical Commission Meeting
Hanover County Administration Building, Board Room address:  7516 County Complex Road, Hanover, VA  time 6:30–8:00 PM  -  Luck Stone Quarry proposal and its impacts on historic sites and cemeteries.
They need to hear from local residents who know the land’s true history and heritage.  Cemeteries CANNOT be protected from blasting.

December 8 – Town Hall with Supervisor Jeff Stoneman
Hanover County Administration Building, Board Room  address: 7516 County Complex Road, Hanover, VA time: 6:30–8:00 PM  - Supervisor Stoneman needs to hear directly from the people who live here — people whose homes, water, and property values are on the line.

Why This Matters

These meetings may not be the final votes — but they are turning points.
If we stay silent, it signals acceptance.  If we show up, it signals resistance.  Our homes represent 20% or more of our life’s worth. We have every right to clean water, safe roads, and peaceful enjoyment of our property. This is about protecting our future — not just fighting a quarry.

What You Can Do

Attend the meetings. Bring friends and neighbors.
Speak respectfully but firmly. Your voice counts.
Share this petition and post on social media.
Encourage others to come. A full room makes an impact.
Together, we can show that this community stands united — and we will not be ignored.  Thank you for your strength, your time, and your love for this community.
Let’s keep Hanover safe, rural, and livable.

Suggestions for talking points

Has the County required an independent hydrogeologic review of aquifer drawdown, well interference, and blasting effects of Luck Stone Quarry?

How are the combined impacts of multiple industrial projects — quarry, asphalt plant, and nuclear facilities — being analyzed together?

Can you confirm whether any SMR or nuclear-related facility is being discussed or planned for Hanover County?

What zoning protections or buffer zones exist to prevent industrial uses near residential or agricultural land?

Will you show the net fiscal impact after infrastructure and public-service costs for any projects?
