Everywhere you are, you hear them – the roar of mufflers, revving engines, ATV vehicles, and more. You can’t sleep. You can’t take that zoom call. You can’t enjoy sitting on the porch. You can’t open your windows! It’s an assault on our health, wellbeing and productivity.

The Georgia Loud Vehicles Task Force is continuing the fight as we prepare for the next legislative session. With the progress we made last year, we are much closer to having a state law allowing jurisdictions to use noise detection technology, but we need your help to make sure this legislation gets passed:

  • Please volunteer even if it’s only a couple hours a month. The task force needs your skills, whatever they may be, such as for organizing, social media, data management, technology, or calling and emailing legislators. Our most critical volunteer needs currently are for a social media manager and a data manager. We would need social media to be set up over the next month and any updates can be handled as time permits.
  • Noise data informs where the technology will go: If you would like noise detection technology where you live, use the free CDC decibel meter, and complete the survey at noisesurveygeorgia.com whenever you hear a loud vehicle. While it may be inconvenient, it is very important and just takes a minute to complete. One easy way to capture the information is to leave the decibel meter open all the time; hear a loud vehicle, make a note of the time and decibel level. Complete the survey later. The data will tell us where loud vehicles are an issue.
  • The petition continues to need signatures: We need your help-spread the petition to other groups to sign and then ask them to forward it to other groups. Please share the link with your network and ask them to share with their network.
  • Share our fundraising link: We need help with website hosting cost, printing, etc. We are not hiring lobbyists. This is a grassroots campaign; the people who are impacted by the noise are the ones who are pushing for the solution.
  • Spread the word in person: A flyer is on our website. This can be printed out and posted on any bulletin board. It can be distributed at a meeting, in your neighborhood, etc.    Spread the word.
