Despite not successfully advancing our bill out of committee, we made significant progress this year. WE ARE NOT GIVING UP!  We will go back to the legislature. It was truly political why we did not get our bill out of committee – some key committee members were not interested. We do have some very strong supporters in the legislature now.

We have the revised bill providing a great starting point and enabling us to build momentum. That bill was rescoped to give it the best chance of getting through this year, changing its focus from allowing these decibel meters statewide, to conducting pilots in a handful of cities. As we continue to learn more, we may refine the language again to strengthen its chances of getting passed.

Your signatures on the petition are invaluable. We urge you to reach out to others. We need to reach areas of the state where our exposure is limited and will be identifying those gaps and asking for your support.

We had publicity -  Buckhead Reporter articleNeighborhood TV,  and Channel 11 interview. We need more – other local publications or TV stations. Anyone with any connections to media outlets, please reach out to stoploudvehiclesga@gmail.com

We need volunteers –volunteers are essential to our cause. While we have a dedicated core group, we need to expand our reach and do it thoughtfully. Whether you have a couple hours a week or every other week, your consistent engagement with this effort until the bill’s passage is vital. Can you help with planning or research or outreach or organizing or computer/technology or emailing? There will be a task that lines up with your interests or background. Legislators consider literally thousands of bills; a targeted and consistent approach is the only way to implement decibel readers successfully.

Want to volunteer, email stoploudvehiclesga@gmail.com

Here are some actions you can take right now:

  •  Send the petition three colleagues – work, volunteer group, etc.
  •  Share the petition to three family members or their connections – brother’s college roommate, that favorite aunt, yes even an ex
  • Identify individuals who can connect us with media and share those with us!
  • Go to noisesurveygeorgia.com and download the free CDC decibel meter Take the survey every time you hear a loud car. This real-time data strengthens our case for statewide noise detection technology.

And additionally, please consider contributing funding page and pitch in what you can – even $5.00 can help! We are a resilient, self-organized group relying on self-funding to drive this effort forward. Stay engaged and DON’T GIVE UP!

We will keep you updated on our progress. Thank you for your continued support.
