If you saw my recent posts, my nephew (13) has been being bullied for 3 years because he's part of the LGBTQ community. After ignoring repeated reports from my nephew, he gave up reporting to his principal after the first 2 years. But it continued and teachers and other staff witnessed the bullying/harassment, at least one join in and agreed with the bullies when my nephew was defending a fellow student that is trans in one of his classes.

So last week, my nephew finally had enough and when a student repeatedly called him a "fa@@ot" he threatened the kid. He completely admits and understands what he said was not ok and is willing to take punishment for his actions. BUT, that does not address the real issue here!! He would not have been pushed to his limit if the district and staff did their job and protected him!! Plus, they're trying to long-term suspend him or expel him, a student that's never been in trouble, that receives notes home about what a great student he is!!

There was a so-called hearing today. A woman from boces was the "judge" that was supposed to be impartial but clearly was not. At the hearing my brother pointed out several things that the district has failed at doing properly, Everytime a point was made, they shut him down. When he made a point that my nephee has already been out of school for 6 days with no attemt to provide education to him, the "Judge" got pissed. Said that wasn't what we're here to talk about ‍♀️ (we have since discovered that by law, they can't suspend a student for more than 5 days without holding a hearing, and should be providing some kind of education.

Finally, they asked who we spoke to about having counsel and when told it was the secretary (sitting right outside the door) the judge went out to speak to her, brought her in, swore her in as a witness and then proceeded to start questioning her. My brother said "wait, wait, wait!" And asked the judge who she was representing since she was now also playing lawyer on top of being the impartial judge. At that point they said the hearing was done and kicked him out.

So, no answers about when my nephew can go back to school, and obviously this district has no clue what they're doing!! Of all the complaints about the bullying and the teachers and bus driver that have witnessed it, not ONE DASA form was filed!! Not one!!

So, we need help to fight this district. We were going to just pull my nephew and have him come stay with me but they told us we couldn't do that.

Thank you!
