My roommate and I moved out last summer. We signed a lease with a student living complex associated with Arizona State University. The apartment complex is Sol Tempe off University and McClintock. As of right now they are wanting to renovate our apartment and about 70 others while the tenants are still living there. These renovations include entire kitchen renovations (new cabinets, countertops, backsplash, and appliances), bedroom carpets will be replaced with hardwood, new light fixtures, and bathroom upgrades as well. The apartment complex is wanting to do these renovations WITHOUT any compensation. Their form of compensation is saying we can use the new renovations once complete with no extra charge, but they won't be completed until the end of our lease. They are wanting us to move all our stuff on our own time so the construction team can come in and start making renovations. Everything being done is a direct breach of contract. We have contacted multiple people within the company about merely wanting to break our lease without any repercussions and we have been shot down. We have jobs and school and our lives that this is disturbing and we will not tolerate this behavior. We have been patient and we have been reasonable, but to sit back and let our livelihoods be taken over by this huge issue is not going to happen.
