Stop Lake Okeechobee discharges from polluting SWFL water, beaches
The Issue
Unprecedented rainfall in 2016 resulted in catastrophic water releases from Lake Okeechobee, killing wildlife and polluting SWFL beaches.
Current measures such as the recent ‘Environmental Resources’ Bill CS/CS/SB 552 do not go far enough.
New legislation should include measures such as the South Flow Way, Plan 6, Solution 101 to DIVERT water from Lake Okeechobee away from SWFL wildlife and beaches. Restore our CLEAN beaches and save our wildlife!
