Stop Kratom, it kills!!
The Issue
A local loving husband and father of three from Kentucky lost his life related to complications of long-term use of Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa). He was 37 years old. He owned his own remodeling business and was well known by his community and loved by all.
If we don't get Kratom off the shelves for our state, we are going to continue to see relapses in the recovery community as well as the death toll rise. Long term kratom use can cause an enlarged heart, seizures, opioid like withdraw as well as many other harmful side effects.
Kratom comes in many forms and is currently at any local gas station or vape shop anyone can go right in and purchase it including teens. It is marketed as a safe herbal product. When in fact Kratom is not currently regulated in the United States. It is considered to be a substitute for opium. The amount of active ingredient in kratom plants can vary greatly, making it difficult to gauge the effect of any given dose. Kratom has the potency of morphine.
People are dying from Kratom use. Addiction is killing so many across our state and country and this is how we fight back.
Update: Jan 11th, 2024 letters/petition mailed to KY Senator, Attorney general, KY Mayor, KY Governor, KY Chamber of Commerce.
