STOP KILLING WOMBATS FOR FUN

The Issue

 Why is this petition important:

Back in 2019, high rolling tourists from China who were visiting Crown Casino got invited  to hunt and kill wombats at the luxury lodge house on Murrindindi Scenic Reserve, Australia. The lodge house was owned by a Chinese businessman who is also a Crown Casino partner. The businessman also has some alleged crime links.

Wombats are primarily found in Australia and are protected by every state in the country. In Victoria, common wombats are protected except  in 193 districts including Murrindindi where the wombat's life has been declared unprotected.

The locals of Murrindindi feel “unsafe” of unlicensed and not seasoned shooters firing powerful firearms around their property. This shows that the wombat's life is not only at risk but also those who live near the said shooting area. These unseasoned shooters are just roaming around carrying firearms with the intentions to harm wombats who are now at high risk. Killing wombats is not a sport, it is a dangerous activity.

In this petition, this project wants to spread awareness about the effects of killing wombats. They can damage the production of the said animal. This petition also wants to call out the unseasoned shooters to be aware of the consequences of their doings. They are not only harming the wildlife but also they are threatening the lives of the locals of Murrindindi. With this petition being a success, we want to ensure the protection of the wildlife.
