These animals are increasingly at risk from competition for space, water, and nutrients by introduced, alien animals; biological and chemical pesticide control activities associated with residential and golf course development; and an increased likelihood of extinction.
On April 9, 2003, the USFWS designated 272 acres in southern Kauai as critical habitat. One year earlier, the agency had proposed that 4,193 acres should be designated as critical habitat, but changed the proposal because it would have been very costly to private landowners!
Kauanoe O Koloa is using permits from 2008! EIS from 1976! Planning commission has no care for burials when told over phone! How does the county of kauai keep issuing these permits! Some developers have 30+ to start projects!
