The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Campaign Office in Gombe State once again wishes to draw the attention of the world to surreptitious plans being put in place by Gombe State governor, INUWA YAHAYA MOHAMMED, to cow, intimidate and eventually incarcerate key officials of the opposing party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP, in Gombe State, in the build-up to the governorship elections in the state. 

Over the past months in the Gombe Metropolis, there have been very glaring examples of intimidation and use of violence against the PDP opposition party in Gombe State.  Recall that in 2022, Governor Yahaya, acting through the Gombe State Urban Planning and Development Authority (GOSUPDA, pulled down our campaign offices, and clamped down on journalists and innocent Nigerian citizens. Not long after November 21, 2022, agents of the Gombe governor attacked our supporters during the flag-off of our presidential campaign at the Gombe Stadium. We know for a fact and are verily convinced without any shade of doubt that these attacks were masterminded by GOVERNOR INUWA YAHAYA, with one ALHAJI KAWU LERO, Youth Leader of the All-Progressives Congress, APC, in Gombe State as the foot soldier.   

Just a few days after, the following hoodlums on the payroll of GOV INUWA YAHAYA

 invaded our campaign offices yet again, armed with deadly weapons like home-made explosive devices.  

Following several reports in the media, for example, Questionable Police Deployment At Dan Haraga In Gombe – Alltimepost.com

that there are suspicious deployment and redeployment of police in Gombe, our team of researchers carried out discreet investigations which reveal as follows: 

(i)                  that the outgoing governor has procured several Hilux vehicles and knit fake policemen in the mold of those at Dan Hara in Gombe as highlighted in the report cited above.

(ii)                outgoing Governor Inuwa Yahaya has perfected plans to intimidate and arrest opposition members of the PDP. 

Our party the PDP strongly condemns these unstatesmanlike and crude antics of Governor Yahaya Inuwa, who is very disposed to the use of violence, and the deployment of thugs and political jobbers, together with employment of strong-arm tactics to try to perpetuate his unsatisfactory government in Gombe state. His quick resort to brigandage, hooliganism, violence is utter disrespect for the Rule of Law in Nigeria.

 Consequently, we ask the Inspector General of Police, IGP of Nigeria, USMAN BABA ALKALI, psc(+), CFR to:  

(i)                 Set up a panel to investigate the plan by Governor Inuwa Yahaya to clothe and kit a rag-tag vigilante group in Gombe state to foment trouble.

(ii)               Disband the rag-tag group that Governor INUWA YAHAYA, outgoing governor of Gombe state has is training, paying and equipping to unleash and perpetrate violence in Gombe State. 

Recall that we had by our petition dated 11th November, 2022 to Police Commissioner in Gombe reported a similar brazen attack on our campaign premises by ALHAJI KAWU LERO and his gang of thugs. In that petition dated November 11, 2022, we had stated that these attacks by the APC Youth led by ALHAJI KAWU LERO, and masterminded by outgoing governor YAHAYA INUWA were becoming very brazen, very calculated and becoming incessant. Our petition also said that we are a responsible party that abhors violence under any ramifications and that we are very keen on a peaceful, free, fair and credible elections in 2023.
